Yesterday was an amazing day. The whole week was pretty amazing for that matter. But not for me, but rather for my Father-in-Law, and Rachel’s whole family (of which I gladly count myself a part of). I made a series of posts lately featuring this, and think I ought to elaborate in at least one. I won’t steal this guy’s thunder, because he has a series of life stories, which while not exactly the same as pseudo-hero’s of mine like special forces Dick Marcinko or DEA agent Michael Levine, are still pretty bad-ass, and you get a similar feeling being in his presense abosrbing his stories as one does reading Rouge Warrior or Deep Cover. He was born Roman Catholic, worked for The National Jewish Congress, is a senior photographer for the NYPD, was Queen Esther for the Purim play, and last week was nominated co-president of Temple Israel Stanten Island, and was just Bar Mitzvoh’d last night where people felt his Davar Torah about standing up and being counted as a Jew was one of the most moving speeches they ever heard. That should start to give some idea about this guy. He’s way too humble to actually write one of those books, so I thought I’d just plant the seed in his head and start encouraging him on with this post—even if it’s the sort of stuff that may not be able to be published for many years. I could continue with a post like this all day, elaborating on how Rachel and I threw an Oneg Shabbat that will probably be talked about for years to come, how this netbook was in my suit pocket during Bema honors, or how my life is changing by being part of a healthy family again (though they might laugh at the concept) for the first time in 23 years. But I think I’ll stop there, because this stuff will be rolled out with intermittent low-investment cathartic posts like this as I get my life back on track, get the entrepreneurial ventures going I could have done 15 years ago, entertain my inner geek, enjoy family life, and share as much as I can a about my career as a professional search engine optimizer (I get stuff found in Google).
